Biography

Craig Shepherd Director Accredited Specialist Commerical Litigation

I was admitted as a solicitor in Queensland in 2003, and since that time have practiced almost exclusively in the specialised areas of commercial litigation and insolvency.

I relocated to Toowoomba and Murdoch Lawyers in 2012 from Brisbane, where I had been a working for a well known Brisbane CBD firm.

I am a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Commercial Litigation and am presently the only solicitor in Queensland west of Brisbane to hold the Commercial Litigation Accredited Specialist qualification.

I lead an astute, practical-minded and experienced commercial litigation and insolvency team at Murdoch Lawyers, who can be trusted to provide you with the right advice, which you can understand when you need it.

My commercial litigation experience is wide and varied, and includes acting in and advising on shareholder and partnership disputes, contractual disputes, mortgage recovery actions, enforcement of securities action against borrowers and guarantors, estate disputes, trade practices and consumer claims, building and construction litigation (including BCIPA), money claims and debt recovery, tortious claims including negligence, planning, development and environmental disputes, and claims for injunctive relief and other equitable remedies.

From an insolvency law perspective, I advise and act on behalf of a number of Brisbane and Toowoomba’s leading liquidators and administrators and regularly conduct corporate insolvency and bankruptcy litigation in the Courts on their behalf, including complex voidable transactions claims, public examinations, and breaches of directorial duties.

I also have extensive experience in providing advice to and acting on behalf of, individuals and company directors who may be experiencing financial difficulties or who are being sued, or who themselves need to recover money owed to them. I have a broad knowledge of the rights and liabilities which apply to directors and individuals pursuant to the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and Bankruptcy Act 1966 (Cth), including in relation to creditor statutory demands, bankruptcy notices and creditor petitions.

I am committed to providing my clients with superior service and advice; always.
