Sarah Adams

Sarah is an Associate and an Accredited Specialist in our Family Law Team.

My name is Sarah Adams. I have lived in Toowoomba for seven years after bouncing around for a number of years between New South Wales and Queensland with my husband Dave.

Two children later, Dave and I are now very settled and call Toowoomba home. As a family, we love to share new experiences and get out and about as much as possible. To extend on our love of new experiences our family recently purchased a caravan that we are really enjoying making the most of with holidays and weekend trips.

When we are not travelling in our caravan, our family can be found hanging out with friends, enjoying Toowoomba’s many parks or at our local church on Sunday mornings. Dave and I also have a shared love, some may call it an obsession, with Crossfit and most mornings you will find us at our local box trying to make it through the WOD. Recently I have decided that I need to give myself a new challenge and have had a great time tackling Spartan and True Grit obstacle races.

I spent most of my childhood in Northwest New South Wales before attending university in Brisbane. I was admitted as a solicitor in Queensland in 2009. Since that time I have practiced exclusively in the area of family law.

I have a broad experience in family law including complex property and children’s matters. For a period of time, I worked with an Independent Children’s Lawyer and Separate Representative assisting to represent the best interests of children in both family law and also child protection matters. I also have a background in mediation and hold my registration as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, which means I can facilitate mediation and issue Section 60I certificates if required.

After commencing my employment with Murdoch Lawyers in 2011 I have had the benefit of learning from a large range of talented professionals across a multitude of areas of law. As we know, family law intersects with a range of other areas of law including structuring, business, conveyancing and estate planning. At Murdoch Lawyers we work together as a team, meaning you get the benefit of not only a lawyer practicing exclusively in family law but also a whole team of specialists who can tailor expert solutions to fit your circumstances.

Recognised as a leading Family Lawyer in Toowoomba, Darling Downs & Western Queensland 2019

As a family law practitioner, I have wide experience in preparing and giving advice on Financial Agreements, both before a relationship commences and also after a relationship breaks down. Whilst my preference is to work with my colleagues to negotiate and resolve matters relating to property, children and child support, I also have litigation experience, for those times when there is no other option.

I believe that it is very important to be involved in the community. Since my admission I have volunteered at the local Domestic Violence Service and the Advocacy and Support Centre providing free advice sessions. Currently, I volunteer at the Family Relationship Centre to provide free legally assisted family dispute resolution. I am also committed to developing working relationships with my colleagues and I am on the management committee for the Downs and South West Queensland Law Association together with the organising committee of the Toowoomba Ladies in Law events.
